Xavi snubs MLS in favour of Barcelona... for now

Xavi will remain at Barcelona for now. The Terrassa midfielder has made a radical U-turn and on Thursday July 24 will join training with the rest of his team-mates. 

The 34-year-old midfielder decided to do this after discussing the best options with manager Luis Enrique and president Jose Maria Bartomeu.

According to his agent Ivan Corretja, Xavi will take to training iwth as much enthusiasm as he has ever had to play at the club. 

Enrique also explained to Xavi about what awaits him and the midfielder accepted his new role willingly. Bartomeu had previously stressed that Xavi's future was in the player's hands. 

Xavi and Corretja do not consider playing in the MLS a close option for next season, but now negotiations will take place slowly. 

He has a Barca contract until 2016, but could end up moving to the US next summer.
