Xavi wants to continue in Qatar, seeing his contract out and getting his coaching badges

Xavi Hernandez had the chance to return to Barcelona much earlier than predicted. The former Blaugrana skipper received a proposal from the club to take charge of the B team this season, according to ‘Que t’hi jugues’ on Cadena Ser.

Barcelona got in touch with Xavi to explain what they wanted, which was to replace Gerard Lopez with him. As it was Xavi declined the invitation to continue training as a coach in Qatar, where he plays for Al-Sadd, and Lopez helped Barcelona B win the division.

Xavi wants to see out his contract in Qatar, where he is one of the leaders of the Doha Aspire Academy project and did not think the moment was right to come back and coach Barca B.

Luis Enrique was in favour of the idea. On Cadena Ser they claimed that Luis Enrique’s relationship with youth football at the club was non-existent and that it had ‘caused tension within the club’.
