Why Lionel Messi did not watch Real Madrid's Champions League semi-final
Lionel Messi did not watch Real Madrid's clash against Manchester City on Wednesday night to see who would face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28 in Milan.
Barcelona's Argentine star didn't bother sitting down to watch the game because he knew his team's eternal rival would reach the final.
Competitive to the core, Messi wouldn't take any pleasure from seeing Madrid take the decisive step to reach the final, which Barcelona wanted to take part in. He knew Zidane's side was favourite to go through, and like many Cules, didn't hold out much hope for City to surprise at the Bernabeu.
Not even his great friendship with Kun Aguero, who invited him to watch the game, made him do so - instead he prefered to spend time with his family. After the game he was informed of the result and asked some of the people close to him what happened in the game. They told him what he had predicted - Madrid would get through without many problems.
