Why Barcelona are keeping an eye on former player Grimaldo

The young left-back may have offers to leave Benfica during the January window

FC Barcelona are closely watching what happens with Alejandro Grimaldo in the future. The former Barça B player is currently playing for Benfica in Portugal and has interest from several European clubs.

Juventus are one of those clubs. The young left-back is having a great season and Barça would benefit from any transfer. He left for Benfica for 1.5 million euros, but the Catalan club would receive a percentage of any future sale.

Therefore, the club are keeping an eye on what could happen in the January transfer window. For now, the only concrete interest is from Juve. Benfica would be prepared to sell if the offer was right economically.

Grimaldo has also had offers from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in recent months, but it’s not something which has progressed. The interest from Juve seems the most likely option as things stand currently.
