Majo: The identity of whoever signs Pogba for Barça is unimportant

Jordi Majo, pre-candidate for Barça's presidential elections, confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that one of the few things which should unite the competitors is that they agree on the necessity of bringing Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, regardless of who is responsible for the signing.

"To some candidates it appears to leave a bad taste that Barça could sign Pogba," he lamented. "I believe that all of us want the signing and it shouldn't matter who signs him, it's the same regardless of whether it is done by the comittee or another candidate."

Majo, who was presenting his programme for Barça's basketball team with the objective of bringing back Pau Gasol, criticised his competitors, "I find that they are jealous that Pogba could come to the club for a reasonable price, without them playing a role in doing it."

Regarding the controversy surrounding the actions of the surpervising board, who have been criticised by some pre-candidates, Majo stated that "the controversy came basically because the elections are in July, but I believe that the committee is doing some things well and other things badly. They haven't done everything badly. If they have a mandate from the previous board to carry out certain planned tasks, it is correct and logical to do so. But if they take decisions on their own initiative without consultation, it is not right."

Majo stated that the task of collecting signatures is a "process which is equally as difficult" as in 2003, although then he required practically one thousand signatures less. "It is laborious, but we are confident that we will do it."

He also rested importance on surveys published by certain media: "In 2003, it was given as a fact on the streets that Bassat would win and later, what happened, happened."
