What's Luis Enrique's plan for new Barça signing Denis Suarez?

The signing of Denis Suarez is practically like signing two players in one. The Gallego has the quality to play in midfield, but also the ability to play as one of the two wide men. In recent years, he's played under various managers and in several different positions. Despite his best performances coming on the left, Luis Enrique has other plans. He sees him as an interior in Barcelona's three man midfield.

In his spell at Barça B, Eusebio began playing him as a volante. However, Denis didn't quite fit the position and was moved wider, to the left wing. There, the Gallego was able to better demonstrate his ability. When he signed for Sevilla, Emery tried him as an organiser, as an attacking midfielder and even off the front man, although in none of the three positions was he able to earn a starting place.

Marcelino was able to find a place for him, though. At Villarreal, Denis began as a left winger, but he had complete freedom to drift away from the flank. The 13 assists that he gave last season are a clear example of the damage he can do in the final third. And at Barça, playing as an interior, would allow him to get into that zone, as Andres Iniesta and Ivan Rakitic do.

Luis Enrique is convinced that Denis will perfectly fit the No.8 role. That's to say, where Iniesta normally plays. The Barça coach hopes that the 22-year-old absorbs the necessary tactical concepts - with and without the ball - to fill an interior role at the club. If that proves the case, Lucho is certain that the player will cement his place as a midfielder.

If, in the end, Barça don't sign another forward, though, Denis will be the backup to the MSN. Neymar's role on the left would be the most ideal position for him, as it was with Pedro, although he could also play on the right wing, where Arda Turan is also an option. Munir would be the alternative to Luis Suarez.
