What words were exchanged between Messi & Alvaro?

There were notable incidents on the pitch at Cornella-El Prat as well as in the stands. 

A pig’s head was brought into the ground to be thrown at Gerard Pique, offensive banners were aimed at Shakira and Luis Suarez and, finally, they copied Real Madrid’s banner regarding Tito Villanova and Jose Mourinho. 

Los Blancos fans’ banner read ‘Jose, your finger shows us the way’ (in relation to the Tito Vilanova incident), while Espanyol’s effort said ‘Pau, your foot shows us the way,’ in reference to the goalkeeper stamping on Lionel Messi last week. 

And the controversy spilled over on to the pitch, too. There was a clash between Felipe Caicedo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, while Messi and Alvaro Gonzalez also had a coming together. 

The Espanyol defender left an elbow in on Messi towards the end of the game. Both then began to argue, with Alvaro labelling Barça forward “really short”, marking his height with his hand. Messi replied: “You’re really bad.”

Don’t forget, it was also Alvaro who was involved in the pushing and shoving with Javier Mashcerano in the league game - that time he picked up a booking. This time, nothing - although he’d been booked in the first half.
