What players could Barcelona sign to replace injured Aleix Vidal?

A number of options are being considered by the Catalan club to boost the squad's numbers

Aleix Vidal's injury has left Barcelona in a tight spot. They have no natural replacement for him going into a decisive stage of the season.

Rules in Spain, though, permit the club to sign a replacement in the case of a serious injury, so Barça could go into the market. But there are conditions. As it's RFEF rules and not UEFA, they can only sign players out of work or who are already registered in the Spanish league.

Barça will have a meeting this week -- with sporting director Robert Fernandez and Luis Enrique -- to analyse the options, which will include looking at the players who could be available.

The list of players available in Spain would be headed by Joao Cancelo. The Valencia full-back is liked by the club but his progression has stalled recently. Los Che would sell, but would demand 25 million euros. A lot of money for a player not in great form.

Other options include Michel Macedo (Las Palmas), Jonny Castro (Celta) and even Ander Capa (Eibar), a player being followed by various top flight clubs.  The Basuqe side want at least 10 million euros for him, though.

Villarreal's Mario Gaspar is another player the club like, although his price would be more than 15 million euros.

As for players out of work, there's former Barça player Martín Cáceres. He was an important player for Juventus, but has not played for six months after fitness problems. Any player Barcelona sign will not be able to play in Europe, just in the league and the cup final.
