'What do we do, Luis?' - Suarez's Clasico risk

'What do we do, Luis?' - Suarez's Clasico risk

With the Clasico looming on April 2, planning for Barcelona starts this Saturday against Getafe. The advantage they have in La Liga allows them to plan how to handle certain situations, such as the one Luis Suarez currently finds himself in.

Suarez was booked in last weekend’s win over Elbar and is now just one more yellow card away from a ban. If the former Liverpool man is cautioned against Getafe, he will miss the Villarreal game the following weekend. He would therefore be guaranteed to feature in the Clasico.

If Suarez doesn’t get booked against Getafe, he will be available for the game at El Madrigal, although he would then be at risk of missing Real Madrid’s Camp Nou visit. If he were to get booked against Villarreal, he would sit out Barça’s clash with Los Blancos.

The situation is difficult to manage. Barça have a nice cushion at the top of the table, but the Clasico is always the Clasico. The ideal situation would be that Suarez has the intelligence to come through the Getafe and Villarreal games without receiving a card. However, sometimes one unfortunate challenge can result in a yellow.

Therefore, Luis Enrique and Luis Suarez must decide on a strategy. And it’s not easy because going to Villarreal is one of the most difficult games in the league. Place your bets.
