What defence will Barça boss Luis Enrique choose against Granada?

The amount of injuries mean there may be a chance for some of the B team players this weekend

Jeremy Mathieu’s the latest to fall. Luis Enrique has less pieces for his defence with each passing day at the moment. Against Granada this weekend he’s without Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba as well as the French centre-back.

Therefore, there aren’t many doubts about who the Asturian coach will select. Sergi Roberto, Javier Mascherano, Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne must be in the lineup.

That’s to say, the same defence which started at Mestalla. There are more problems on the bench, though, where the big surprise could be the inclusion of Marlon Santos, who started and played well against Espanyol in the Catalan Super Cup.

ALEIX VIDAL

Right-back Aleix Vidal didn’t make the squad for the Super Cup game because of a late injury which he picked up in training on Monday. However, he should be back for Granada.

It’s another thing if he’s selected, however. But given the avalanche of injuries it’s unlikely he will be excluded if fit. The Catalan was in the squad against Valencia but didn’t play.

Against Espanyol Nili was handed a chance at right-back. He’s also an outside option to make the squad for Granada.
