Wenger: Hector Bellerin? His long-term future is here with Arsenal

The Gunners' boss doesn't expect the right-back to leave the club for Barça of Man City

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has closed the door on the idea of Hector Bellerin moving to Barcelona or Manchester City next season amid interest from the Catalan club

"I'm susprised by the speculation, his long-term future is here," the French coach said about the right-back, whose contract runs until 2019 in London.

"He has nearly three years to go, we always try to get the players to the [financial] level where we think they deserve to be.

"He has been absolutely fantastic. His progress has been brilliant because he has absolutely top mental strength.

"I think now that you do not necessarily have to play where you were born.

"Modern life is not exactly like that and what is important is that the player meets his needs where he is and his values. I think he is a real Arsenal player."

Bellerin, who left Barça as a teenager, is expected to meet with Arsenal this month about a new contract. It will be then that the player knows the offer on the table.

Man City have also been linked with the Catalan, with Pep Guardiola interested in him, and their financial power would possibly blow Barça out of the water.

Therefore, everything suggests the Blaugrana will move on to other targets, with Joao Cancelo well liked by the club
