Versatile defender Adriano renews Barcelona contract until 2017
Adriano Correia and his agent, Paulo Affonso, have now confirmed to FC Barcelona that the left-back will take up the option to extend his contract with the club for an additional season. Therefore, the Brazilian defender will remain linked to the Blaugrana until June 2017.
As SPORT revealed just a few days ago, Adriano needed to resolve his future before March 15. In the end, the player has decided to extend his terms with the club despite the fact his minutes on the pitch have reduced in recent seasons.
The club expected Adriano to continue at Camp Nou by exercising his right to an extra year, although they were not completely sure.
Since last season, clubs such as Juventus and, above all, Roma have made an effort to sign Adriano. However, any potential deal has always had the breaks put on - either by the player or the club.
