PSG, annoyed with his agent, asked him to make an apology on Friday

His representatives feel those comments will close the door to a move to Barça

Marco Verratti's representatives are beginning to think that the midfielder will not leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The message from the player saying sorry for his agent's comments and reiterating his commitment to the club have been read as a 'no' to Barcelona. At least for the moment.

The situation had become so tense that PSG insisted that Verratti publicly apologise for his agent's comments -- Donato Di Campli had said he was a "prisoner of Emir" at the Ligue 1 club. It was a move from Di Campli to force the club into opening talks with Barça.

PSG asked Verratti to come out and comment on the matter, in one way or another, and the Italian opted for the more conservative option, listening to the advice from the PSG president and, in practice, all but letting the train to Barça pass.

At least for this summer: Verratti will not close the doors on Barça in the future, but for the moment is taking his chances with PSG.

In recent days, everything he's suggested he would commit to PSG, at the same time as Barça admitted they were wasting their time trying to sign him -- despite Josep Maria Bartomeu's comments

The few fans at PSG's Ooredoo received Verratti with applause and the player was grateful for the reception, a simple gesture which could be interpreted as a sign of his loyalty to PSG, perhaps forced, but for the moment the door to Barça is closed.
