Thomas Vermaelen defends himself: "I'm not Messi or Neymar"

These are not good times for Thomas Vermaelen. It's his second season with FC Barcelona. His last two appearances were not impressive, against Malaga and Athletic Club. He spoke to De Morgen, a newspaper in his country, Belgium.

"It's clear that I'm not Messi or Neymar," he said. "I'm not the best but people forget that I play for the best team in the world." The Belgian knows the difficulties that he's having with the side, but accepts his situation with tranquility. "There'll be rotations, I'll have chances to play through the season."

Vermaelen knows the importance of the heavyweights in the team. "We will win the Champions League again," he said. "Becaue this is the advantage of having Lionel Messi and Neymar in the dressing room."

The Belgian also noted the differences between his game with his country and at Barcelona. "With Barcelona they get the ball in play, while with Belgium, the goalkeepers kicks it long."
