Ernesto Valverde, Barcelona coach, said he was left with "positive sensations" because despite drawing when they were looking for a win "we'll take the point as a good one".

"We knew that if Atletico go ahead of an opponent they use their advantages well, it was difficult to overcome their defensive lines, but we had spirit and drive. We wanted to win but we'll take the point as a good one," said Valverde.

He highlighted the "great football atmosphere" at the Wanda and added: "In the first half we couldn't break through, in the second half we had more chances but were more exposed."

On Messi, who had to play after driving Argentina to the World Cup in midweek in Ecuador, Valverde added: "(He was) with the wear and tear from the travel and the tension of the games, but we know that he always responds in any situation."
