Barcelona would prefer to sell the midfielder this summer

Valencia and Barcelona have had preliminary conversations about the future or Portugal midfielder Andre Gomes.

Both the player and Barça are in agreement that the best solution this summer is for him to leave Camp Nou to re-find the form he's lost.

No on doubts Gomes' ability but his creative block when he comes on to the pitch in a Barça shirt has seen him fail to live up ti the expectations which surrounded his arrival in 2016.

Pending better offers, Valencia are currently the club leading the way in the bid to sign him, although they're a long way from satisfying the demands of Barça, who want to sell for more than 30 million euros.

Valencia, who sold Gomes to Barça two years ago, want to bring him back to the Mestalla, but only on loan, which doesn't interest those in charge in the offices on Arístides Maillol.

It's even less tempting for Barça due to the fact that Los Che aren't even offering to cover his full salary during the loan.

If Barça finally decide to let him leave on loan, it would only be if his wages are completely covered for the duration of his stay at Valenia.

Meanwhile, Barça are hopeful of a buyer emerging from elsewhere, with interest from England and Italy yet to become firm -- although there's still a lot of market left.
