UOL: Barça's Neymar accepts mega offer from PSG to join in 2017

Neymar has reportedly accepted the wages on offer from Paris Saint-Germain to join the French team from the start of the 2017-18 season, according to Brazilian media UOL. The report says the 24-year-old will break off talks with Barcelona over a renewal, play one more season for the club and then leave for Paris.

UOL Esporte explain that Neymar and his father have been convinced that a move to PSG will be the quickest route to being considered the best player in the world. Therefore, it continues, his fourth season as Barça will be his last as he doesn't want to continue living in the shadows of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The Brazilian paper says sources have assured that PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi held talks last week in Ibiza with Wagner Ribeiro, Neymar's representative, and that, despite no final agreement being reached, talks are very advanced.

The contract that PSG have reportedly offered is worth almost 50 million euros per season (40 million euros plus bonuses), which is more than double the terms being offered to renew at Barcelona.

PSG know that if Neymar renews with Barça until 2021 (he has a contract until 2018), their chances of signing him will diminish, keeping in mind his release clause will go up. However, Barça are not ready to sell one of the members of their trident and PSG will have to pay 200 million euros to sign him even if he does not renew.

However, the French club's plan is for the Brazilian not to renew and sign him next summer, when, it's hoped, with one year left on his deal, Barça would be more willing to negotiate on the price.
