Unai Emery admits Sevilla were mere guests at Lionel Messi's party

Sevilla manager Unai Emery says his team were special guests at Lionel Messi's party.

After the visitors were trounced 5-1 at the Camp Nou, with Messi breaking Telmo Zarra's record, Emery spoke about the defeat.

"We didn’t want to be invited guests to the party, but we were. This is a dose of humility," he explained.

"For my part, I tried to maintain balance. The mood is reflected in the results. We need to turn the page on this and pick ourselves back up for Thursday’s match against Feyenoord.

"Barcelona were the better team. We did well defensively for the first 45 minutes, but our attack could not reach their level. We did well regardless of their free kick goal but lost our defensive balance in the second half.

"Even if they were having a bad game, they could still have beaten us 5-1."
