Samuel Umtiti played one of his best game so far against Man City. The French centre-back didn't just work perfectly in defence but his play on the ball, bringing it out, was very good too - something essential for Barcelona. After the game few were as happy as him. Not just becaue of the big win, but because of everything he's been living since arriving here.
For Umtiti this was one of his first great European nights. "Yes, it's true. What a pleasure! I am living through my first European feelings... they're strong! I am happy and with players from this place, these team-mates, you can only enjoy it."
The centre-back insisted he is having a whale of a time. "Mamma mia! It's obvious I'm happy! How could I not be? This is a dream, I am living in a dream. Enjoying every moment, every second. In my day to day life too. The city, the quality of life in Barcelona... I'm happy, happy, happy! I can't complain about anything! All my life right now is beautiful."
Obviously he enjoys working with Lionel Messi too. "This guy is phenomenal, phenomenal.... it's clear he's the best player in the world. He can do everything well, score, pass perfectly, I'm delighted to see Messi play and to be his team-mate is an immense honour for me."
