The fee they would have to pay, plus his wages is astronomical

Neymar has been rumoured to be joining the French side from Barcelona

PSG would have to pay astronomical numbers to sign Neymar from Barcelona. Analysing the operation, it seems they would have to pay 528 million euros to bring the Brazilian forward to Paris.

The release fee clause is 222 million, while the salary Neymar would demand, 306 million euros adds up to a brutal amount. However the Parisians would not have to pay a huge tax bill. It was established last year that when previously paying a release clause meant paying full VAT, now both that and IRPF do not need to be applied. So PSG would only have to pay 222 euros without an additional fee. It would have gone up 46.62m for VAT and an extra 106.56m in IRPF - 328.56m in total. The saving is huge.

FIVE YEARS

PSG are offering 30million euros a season to Neymar for five years, net. In France the maximum tax is 45 per cent although any income over 500,001 euros (while Neymar is still single) has a charge of 4 per cent. For married people the fee of 4 per cent is after 1 million a year.

That is to say for the Brazilian to have 30m net a season, PSG would have to pay him 61.2m each season. However that too is much lower than the 75 per cent it used to be between 2012-15.
