Thomas Vermaelen and Xavi will play in Barcelona's final La Liga game

Luis Enrique has confirmed that Xavi Hernandez will start in his last ever La Liga game, while Thomas Vermaelen will also make his debut.

The Belgian centre-back has not played a single minute for Barcelona in an official game since signing last summer from Arsenal.

It is unknown if Vermaelen will start on Saturday against Deportivo de la Coruna at the Camp Nou, or if he will come on as a substitute.

Xavi, meanwhile, will be deployed from the off, and the game - with La Liga already won - will be a celebration of his talent and his achivements at Barcelona.

Asked if the two players would start, Enrique replied "yes, yes".

Xavi will lift the La Liga trophy at the end of the game, potentially the first of a historic treble, with the Copa del Rey and Champions League trophies yet to come.

Next season he will be playing in Qatar, for Al-Sadd.
