Theo Hernandez's representative confirms Real Madrid and Barça interest

Both clubs are keen to land the left-back from Atletico this summer

Hernandez, on loan at Alaves, scored the winner against Athletic on Sunday

Manuel García Quilon, the representative of Theo Hernandez, has confirmed in an interview with Footmercato that Real Madrid and Barcelona are fighting for the services of the Atletico Madrid defender, currently on loan at Alaves.

Theo is one of the players in fashion in La Liga due to the ‘transfer war’ which has been generated between Atletico, Real and Barça. And to add to the drama, the player scored the goal as his side beat Athletic Club 1-0 in Sunday’s Basque derby.

García Quilon admitted that Theo will be the person that decides where his future lies, after confirming that Real and Barça are interested in the French defender.

“For now he’s not close to either of the teams [Real or Barça],” explained García Quilon. “Both are really interested but we’ve not closed anything with them. There are concert offers, but we still haven’t chosen. Both have made an offer to the level of his release clause.”

The release clause is set at €24 million and García Quilon added: “He [Theo] will be the person to decide where he wants to go. They pay the clause and it’s the player who decided which team he wants to go to.”

SPORT have revealed that Barça currently lead the chase. Hernandez has hopes of playing for France at the World Cup next year and understands at the Catalan club he would play more minutes, where his versatility would be rewarded with minutes.
