Theo Hernandez, the defender Robert would love to sign for Barcelona
There is speculation that Real Madrid will pay his 24 million release clause
Barcelona wanted to sign him last summer but in the end didn't make the move
Theo Hernandez has become one of the hottest prospects in Spanish football. The left-back has shone at Alaves and many believe he will sign for Real Madrid. Theo is a player that Barcelona’s sporting director Robert Fernandez likes and has monitored since he was 16 years old. Barcelona thought about signing him last summer but they didn’t want to pay his 24 million release fee clause, and now Madrid might beat them to the defender.
Atletico Madrid loaned Theo to Alaves while negotiating a new deal for him and the increase of his release fee clause. But the player started to receive various offers and held up negotiations with the Rojiblancos. Theo has spoken to Real Madrid but not signed anything, while Barcelona have him in their sights. The coaches see him as ideal because he would fit into the 4-3-3 and the 3-4-3, although a problem is that the position is well covered with Jordi Alba and Lucas Digne. However the Frenchman has disappeared from the line ups in recent weeks and in France they are speculating about his future. 24 million euros is a real bargain for a player who has advanced so much. He plays as a left-back, left-midfielder and even a left winger. His physical abilities are beastly and he is skilled at one-on-one take ons and first touch passing. Madrid would replace Coentrao with him and see him provide competition for Marcelo.
