The teenager said he prefers to set up goals than to score them

Few players have provoked as much expectation in Barcelona's academy as Xavi Simons. The midfielder is tipped to be a star. And not just as a footballer who fits perfectly with Barça's history of midfielders. Simons also has a maturity beyond his years.

That could be seen in an interview with the freestyle star Soufiane Touzani, in which he explains what he most likes to do on a football pitch. The question was whether he preferred to score or create...

"I prefer to assist than to score. For me, assists are the most important. When I score, I am happy, but if a teammate scores I am also happy. So I prefer to assist because it's good for the team," he said.

Simons also said that he identifies with tiki-taka, a style of play that forces the opposition, they say, to tire quickly as they chase the ball. Barça are delighted with the Dutch player.
