The WhatsApp message Ronaldo sent to Neymar

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo surprised Barcelona’s Neymar the other day with a WhatsApp message congratulating him on the title after the win over Granada.

According to the website ‘Madrid-Barcelona’, sources close to the Brazilian confirmed the message sent by Ronaldo was written in a very “polite and affectionate” tone. 

It was a pleasant surprise for Neymar and he thanked the Portuguese star for his message. The episode confirms the good relationship both players have away from the football pitch - which was also revealed at January’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Other members of the Madrid squad, their manager Zinedine Zidane and their captain Sergio Ramos have also publicly congratulated Luis Enrique’s side for their title triumph.

Madrid won at Deportivo La Coruna on the final day of the season, but it counted for little, as Barça’s win meant they retained their crown.
