Misunderstanding between Digne and Luis Enrique due to language

Samuel Umtiti revealed a mix up between his team-mate and coach after a training session this season

French international Lucas Digne and Samuel Umtiti both arrived at Barcelona last summer.

The two players set about adapting as quickly as possible, not just to Barça's system, but to the city and to the language. However, Umtiti has revealed in an interview with France Football that both had small problems getting used to the Spanish language.

The centre-back recognised that, on one occasion, after Luis Enrique had given a talk about how the defenders bring the ball out from the back, the coach asked him if he'd understood everything: "I said 'yes' even though in reality I hadn't!" he admitted.

However, a funnier anecdote came in the form of Digne. Umtiti explained the lack of understanding between the left-back and his manager earlier this season.

"On day, after a training session, Luis Enrique spoke with the squad in the dressing room. When he finished, he asked is anyone wanted to add anything. [Jeremy] Mathieu and I looked at each other and said nothing," he said.

"After [Luis Enrique] looked at Lucas [Digne] and as he'd not understood what had been said he said 'yes'. Everyone was waiting for him to say something but he said nothing... Everyone burst out laughing."
