The Mirror: Messi to Manchester City for 233 million euros next summer

Despite Barça's confidence that Messi will renew, reports are still linking him to the Premier League

On the same weekend that Barcelona dropped points against Malaga with their star Lionel Messi missing the game at the last minute, in England they’re linking the Argentina star with Manchester City.

It’s The Mirror this time that insist that City trio Josep Guardiola, Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano are ready to break the market with an offer which, in theory, would be inalienable for Messi and Barça.

The British newspaper speaks of “breaking the bank” by offering 200 million pounds (around 233 million euros) next summer.

Barça would receive 100 million pounds (around 116 million euros), while Messi would be paid more than 30 million euros for each year of a four-year contract, running until 2021.

City will have to make use of the figure of Guardiola to get done what none of Europe’s other big teams have been able to do in the past, such as Paris Saint-Germain. However, like the French side, it’s unlikely City will have success.

Barça have initiated the first contact with Leo Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, as revealed on SPORT and expect to the forward to sign a new deal

But even more categoric on the matter was Guardiola, City’s boss. When the sides met in the Champions League at Camp Nou, Pep dismissed that he’d spoke with Messi at any stage and said he expects him to end his career in Catalonia.
