Captain Andres Iniesta's deal expires in June 2018

The midfield maestro has less than a year to go before he can walk away

Now Lionel Messi's contract renovation has been agreed, Andres Iniesta is the only heavyweight left whose future has not been settled. Barcelona have tied down the majority of their stars but the captain's contract runs out in June 2018.

Everything indicates he will stay but alarm bells rang in March when Iniesta said himself he had decided to focus on the games and put the matter of his contract to one side. He thinks the ball is now in Barcelona's court.

He has always desired to hang his boots up at Camp Nou, but only wants to stay if he's useful to the team and feels like an important part of the squad for the coach. That is the test Iniesta will go through in the coming months under new coach Ernesto Valverde.
