The definitive list: The forwards that have escaped Barça during the summer

Barcelona have had several forwards in their sights this summer, with the sufficient potential to play at the Camp Nou.

Paco Alcacer is the man to have passed through the sieve and has the chance, if Valencia end up relenting, to dispute the starting position of Luis Suarez in one of the many competitions that Luis Enrique's team will contest.

Footballers with a high potential have fallen by the wayside, but, for one reason or another, will not end up wearing the Blaugrana shirt.

The first on the list was Nolito, the main objective of Luis Enrique since he became Barcelona manager. The Andalusian, after it being economically impossibleto sign in the last winter transfer window, was prepared to come without much thought this summer, but Barça never fully believed in him, contradicting the wishes of their coach.

Today, he is a Manchester City player, and a rival of the Catalan club in the Champions League. He cost 18 million euros, a lot less than Alcacer will cost, if the deal finally goes through.

The case of Kevin Gameiro is also paradigmatic. The French striker was close to the Camp Nou, so much so that there was an agreement between Sevilla and Barça. However, Atletico Madrid finally got the deal done and secured the services of a very valued player on an international level, after his great performances at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Another of the players that changed teams this season, continuing in La Liga, but not arriving at Barça, is Luciano Vietto. His case was related to that of Gameiro, as the Argentine was part of the Atletico squad and next term will represent Sevilla.

The trident formed by Leo Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, the best attacking trio in history, is an obstacle which is too high for players that want to continue to progress. The case of Vietto was one of those.

In Brazil, the real interest of the Catalan club for Gabriel Jesus was talked about a lot. He is a player that has disputed, and won, the football gold medal at the Rio Olympics. The Blaugrana were pursuing the Palmeiras forward, who will play for Manchester City in England, but were unable to complete a deal.

A similar story happened with Ousmane Dembele, he was also a player that interested Barcelona when at Rennes, but Borussia Dortmund were able to get the attacker's signature.

Some weeks ago, there was also speculation that Deportivo's Lucas Perez could have come to Catalunya. However, the Spanish striker has remained at the Galician side, though he remains a target for Premier League teams.

Another player that has been related to Barça but, as in all the other cases, have not had their transfer to the Catalan capital completed.
