The data which reveals how Luis Suarez's poor form continued against Man City

The Uruguayan had a tough night in England and has scored just two goals in his last seven appearances

Luis Suarez tires himself out physically in every game that he plays, but sometimes that doesn’t come with the desired compensation.

Against Manchester City, the Barcelona striker once again displayed his intensity on the pitch. But the defending from Pep Guardiola’s team and a disconnect on Barça’s part saw him forced to play in areas away from where he likes to be, as his heat map from the game reveals.

The post game statistics clearly show that Suarez wasn’t comfortable in the game. He was the member of the MSN trident least involved in the game and had just three shots (only one of which was on target), which is low for the Uruguayan.

Curiously, he touched the ball less times (44) than goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen (50) during the game. Away from being an anecdote, it shows the lack of impact Suarez had on the game in Manchester.

The striker, who just a few days ago presented his Golden Shoe to Camp Nou, is having a tough spell in front of goal. In the Champions League this season he’s scored just once in four matches, that goal coming in the 7-0 win over Celtic.

Meanwhile, in the last seven games in all competitions, he’s scored just twice. It’s a statistic which is a long way short of what we saw from him last season.
