The businesses which keep Barcelona's stars occupied off the pitch

A large part of Barcelona's squad have interests away from the football pitch. Here are some of the things they do when they're not dressed in blaugrana. 

Lionel Messi: Real-estate

Barça's No.10 has been involved in the housing market for a while. He has invested heavily in contruction projects in Spain and in Rosario, his home town in Argentina. 

However, while he is putting his money into other sectors, it is still through his various sponsors where he makes his most money off the pitch. He has big deals in place with Adidas, Pepsi, Gillette, EA, Turkish Airlines, Scalp-D and Samsung. 

Neymar: Business management 

Since he was 18, Neymar has been involved with the company NR Sports, which is led by his father and manages advertising contracts. The company has diversified in recent years and is helping several sports stars and artists. 

Gerard Pique: Video games and hamburgers

Pique is without doubt one of the boldest members of Barça's squad when it comes to other interests. In November 2011 he founded an online video games company called Kerad Games.

The company employes around 30 people and has released its first game, Golden Manager, a simulator where you create and manage a football club from scrach. It's based in Sant Joan Despi and in its first two years has turned over around €400,000.

Pique owns 80 percent of the company, with family and friends taking up the other 20 percent. 

He also owns 27 percent of a Catalan meat company, Bas Alimentaria, which is based in Vall d'en Bas . The company is dedicated to producing burgers without additives and the burgers are sold at various Spanish supermarkets. 

Ivan Rakitic: A bar in Seville

The Croatian midfielder opened a restaurant-cum-cafe in the Los Bermejale area of Seville, along with his wife, Raquel Mauri. The business was not going badly, but its proximity to Real Betis' Benito Villamarin stadium caused more problems than anticipated.

Speaking after having to close it, Rakitic explained: "I've had to close the bar because it was close to Betis' stadium and we had problems with their fans, but I will open another one soon in the middle of the city."

'Dinain Tapas&Copas' was the name of the bar, but his plans to open it in a different location have stuttered since he signed for Barcelona -- maybe he will look to open one in the Catalan city instead.  

Dani Alves: Fashion and gastronomy

Barça's Brazilian right-back also dabbles in business. In his case, he spends a lot of time in the fashion and housing industries. His ex-wife and agent, Dinorah Santa Ana, helps him with his off-the-field ventures.

In addition to a clothes shop, DM3, situated on Pau Casals in Barcelona, Alves has been focusing on a project with Brazilian chef Joao Alcantara, who he met throught former Barça player Maxwell. The idea is to open a restaurant with a menu that fuses Brazilian and Mediterranean cuisine, while also offering cooking workshops. 

Andres Iniesta: Wine

The apple of Andres Iniesta's eye is the Bodega in his home town of Fuentealbilla. There he has a business which employs 20 people, covers 120 hectares and has been producing wine since 2010. 

In 2013 he expanded the business and started to produce oil -- the brand is called Corazón Loco Oleo.
