The Barça games that Jeremy Mathieu and Andres Iniesta will miss

In the game against Sevilla, both Andres Iniesta and Jeremy Mathieu were substituted in the first half.

Iniesta went off with a knee problem in the 36th minute, after Mathieu had been replaced in the 26th minute.

Once the medical tests took place on each player on Monday morning, FC Barcelona released medical statements in which the midfielder was diagnosed with a posterior capsule distention of his right knee, and the French defender with a hamstring tear in his right leg.

The club estimates that captain Iniesta will be ruled out for two weeks, and Mathieu sidelined for three weeks in total.

Barça have the second-leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday night and the first two games in La Liga, on August 20 against Betis at home, and on August 28 away to Athletic Bilbao.

Iniesta will be a serious doubt to make the San Mames clash in time against the Basque club.

Following that game, there will be an international break, which should allow both footballers to be ready to return in time for the third league game of the season, on September 10, against Alaves at the Camp Nou.
