The add-ons, the last obstacle for Dembélé
Dortmund will accept €90 million plus €40 in add-ons, if the variables are easier to achieve
The two clubs have agreed that the final fee will be €130 million, with a fixed and variable component
Barça have done the hard part of the negotiations with Dortmund for Dembélé and it seems certain that Dembélé will be a Barça player next year. In part, because the French international has forced the issue more than has seemed wise at times and, given the situation, Dortmund had no choice but to negotiate with Barça.
Nevertheless, Barça will still have to make Dembélé their record signing to get their man. Dortmund have played it tough and the fee has been agreed at €130 million. However, the last step is not easy. The club’s now have to agree on the fixed part of the fee and the variable part of the fee.
Barça want to include an amount linked to the number of games that Dembélé plays, similar to €5 million for every 50 games they will pay for Semedo, or for trophies the club wins. Dortmund on the other hand want easier to reach targets, such as Barça qualifying for the Champions League. If the variables are easy to achieve, then the German club will accept a fee of €90 million plus €40 million in add-ons.
