Ter Stegen still refusing to completely commit future to Barcelona

Just when it seemed clearer than ever that Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s future was at Barcelona, the German goalkeeper has added more fuel to the possibility of a departure from the Catalan club.

“We will see what ideas Barça have with regards to me. There is no pressure in terms of time. The manager has his opinion and the club know what they have with me,” he said after the friendly between Germany and Hungary.

Asked about his desire for more minutes, he responded in a manner which could be interpreted in various ways: “Of course I want to play as much as possible, but I have a contract until 2019.”

Some have interpreted it as a statement which reveals he’s aware he cannot leave until 2019, while others feel it’s an expression of patience.

Ter Stegen, who for now does not plan to return to the Bundesliga, also spoke about Marc Bartra’s move to Borussia Dortmund:

He said: “He asked me what the club is like. I told him they’re the best after Bayern [Munich in Germany]. It’s a shame a player like him is leaving, I appreciate him a lot - he’s a great player. I think he’ll fit in at Dortmund.”
