Tebas worried about Barca and Athletic fans whistling national anthem
La Liga president Javier Tebas is worried about the possibility that Barcelona and Athletic Club fans will whistle the Spanish national anthem ahead of the Copa del Rey final.
Both Catalonia and the Basque Country contain many people who would like their region to be independent from Spain.
They have whistled the anthem before, when these teams met in the Copa del Rey finals of 2009 and 2012.
Tebas said: "I think it’s terrible for the anthem to be whistled, because it shows a lack of respect.
“Measures need to be taken. I’m going to work to try and make sure there isn't any whistling. It will be difficult, but of course we’ll work to try and keep the damage to a minimum and to make sure the appropriate measures are taken."
