Tata Martino admits to having "difficult" year in charge of Barcelona

After spending a year in the hot seat as Barcelona boss, Gerardo 'Tata' Martino now puts all his efforts into managing the Argentina national team.

However, the Rosario-born coach has not forgotten his time in the Catalan capital.

Undoubtedly, the pressure from the media and the environment around the club was what he found most difficult to overcome on a day-to-day basis.

"So much stuff was going on," he said about his experience as Barça manager in an interview with La Nación.

"There was always news, things happening, things not happening... I don't like making excuses and I do not say that there are any, but it was difficult to live like that.

"The day-to-day with the players I liked, they were a good group of guys and we could speak about football.

"That calmed me down, but everything else cost me a lot."

Martino also assumed responsibility for last season's shortcomings - Barça ended the season without a trophy to their name, other than the Supercopa.

"For me it is unthinkable not to feel culpable when I arrived at a club that was used to winning and winning," he explained.

"The only new face was mine, that was the only change."
