Suarez "didn't expect" to beat Madrid so easily

Luis Suarez admitted his surprise at the ease of Barcelona’s win over Real Madrid in the Clasico on Saturday.

The striker scored the first and last goals in a four-goal win, with Neymar and Andres Iniesta goals coming in the middle of his two strikes.

However, he says he did not see the result coming.

“We didn’t expect to win 4-0,” Suarez said after the game.

“We said it would be a tough game, we always knew that, but we did a really thorough job from the first minute until the last.”

The Uruguayan international even went as far as to suggest the scoreline flattered Barça.

“It was a cluster of coincidences,” he continued.

“Madrid are one of the best teams in the world, but we took advantage of their mistakes.”

Luis Enrique’s side now have a six point lead over Madrid at the top of the table, but Suarez wanted against complacency.

He said: “The season is very long and Madrid are a great team.”
