Spanish TV companies likely to set late Copa del Rey kick-off time

The final will be shown on Tele5 and TV3 in Spain. The kick-off time has been a contentious issue

The RFEF have made it official on Monday that the Copa del Rey final between FC Barcelona and Deportivo Alaves will be played at the Vicente Calderon on May 27. However what has not been announced is what time the game will take place at, and how many tickets each side will have for their fans.

The final will be shown on Tele5 and TV3 in Spain. The kick-off time has been a contentious issue. Last year Barcelona and Sevilla, conscious the game was on a Sunday, asked for it to take place as early as possible. However rights holders Tele5 enforced a 9.30pm kick-off time.

This year, with it being on a Saturday, it’s easier for supporters to attend even if it is late. The most probably outcome is that the TV companies will want it at prime time in Spain, which is 9.30pm or 10pm kick off.
