Turning things around against PSG, though, would arguably blitz these previous great turnarounds

Barcelona need to do what no side has ever done in the Champions League before on Wednesday to remain in the competition: overturn a four-goal deficit after their humbling against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg three weeks ago.

Throughout history, the club have managed to come back in European games when they'd been practically KO'd in the first leg. Some of those comebacks remain imprinted in the memories of Barça fans across the world.

From the first, against Ipswich Town in the UEFA Cup, to the most recent, against Milan in the Champions League, Barcelona have been capable of miracles. This Wednesday, however, they tackle the biggest challenge ever when PSG arrive at Camp Nou.

UEFA CUP 77-78: IPSWICH TOWN

Barcelona were well beaten (3-0) in the first leg of their round-of-16 tie against Bobby Robson's Ipswich Town. However, in the return leg, they fought back, taking the game to extra-time and then winning on penalties. Cruyff (2) and Rexach scored the goals in normal time, with Amarillo scoring the decisive penalty in the shoot out.

CUP WINNERS' CUP 78-79: Anderlecht

Won of the most remembered comebacks. Barcelona returned from Belgium in hiding, having lost 3-0 to an Anderlecht side who in that era were extremely well respected, with their coach, Raymond Goethals. However, Barça were able to level up the scores with goals from Krankl, Heredia and Zuviria and force extra-time. Penalties followed, which the Blaugrana won 4-1, progressing after Neeskens converted.

EUROPEAN CUP 85-86: GOTHENBURG

Another comeback which as time passes will never be forgotten. The team, after being hammered in Sweden (3-0) had to conjure up something special if they wanted to reach the final... and they did. Pichi Alonso, with a hat-trick, entered the history books. He scored in the 9th, 63rd and 69th minutes. There was extra-time and then, once again, penalties. Barça scored all theirs and Gothenburg missed one (5-4). Victor Munoz scored the decisive penalty. The final in Seville, against Steaua Bucharest, was another story... (Barça lost on penalties)

Champions League 93-94: Dinamo Kiev

Barça's Champions League campaign looked over when they were easily beaten 3-1 in Ukraine. It would need something impressive at Camp Nou. Cruyff's team, though, came up with the goods, winning 4-1 and moving into the round-of-16 on the back of a wonderful performance. The goals came from Laudrup, Bakero (2) and Koeman.

Champions League 99-00: Chelsea

Another memorable game at Camp Nou. Louis van Gaal's team were beaten 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, but in the return leg, backed by their supporters, they managed the same scoreline, with goals from Rivaldo, Figo and Dani. In extra-time they completed the turnaround with goals from Rivaldo and Kluivert.

Champions League 12-13: Milan

Barcelona's last big comeback came four years ago. Having lost 2-0 at the San Siro, few gave the Catalan side a chance, but at Camp Nou Tito Vilanova and Jordi Roura's side put the foot on the accelerato and won the game 4-0 with goals from Messi (2), Villa and Jordi Alba.
