Sergio Busquets misses Rayo Vallecano clash with ankle injury

Barcelona confirmed that Sergio Busquets has a right ankle injury after being hacked by Tomas Pina on Wednesday night.

The Villarreal player caught the midfielder heavily on the ankle.

He will miss the match against Rayo Vallecano and possibly games after that, including the Champions League clash with Manchester City. 

A statement from Barcelona read: "Tests done on Thursday morning confimed that Busquets has a right ankle syndesmosis injury.

"The player is ruled out for Sunday's league match with Rayo Vallecano at the Camp Nou. His availability beyond that will be carefully monitored."

Barcelona will be hoping that Busquets is fit to play in the Clasico, on March 22.
