Sergi Samper: "If Luis Enrique asks me to go out on loan, I will do so"

Young midfielder Sergi Samper is the only Barça B team player that has made the leap to the first team this summer.

Before leaving to take part in the club's preparatory stage in England, he signed his new contract with the Catalan club.

However, Samper himself is aware of the difficult situation he is faced with, namely a saturation of players that can play in the centre of the pitch, and would accept a loan elsewhere "in the event that Luis Enrique asks me to do so."

The player has not yet discussed the matter with his manager, but would not cause an issue should he be required to move on a temporary basis.

That said, he asserts that "my first option is to play in the first team" as "I have been a Barça fan since very little."

The former youth team player says his ideal position is "central midfield, in front of the centre-backs" but reminds us that "last year I played more advanced in the midfield."

Regarding his experiences training with the team, Samper commented that working alongside players of the highest quality serves him "to improve", as at his young age his priority is "to grow as a footballer."
