Samper: Barça have strengthened well and are really strong

The midfielder, who's back at Camp Nou this weekend, also felt Jemez's sacking was 'hasty'

Sergi Samper will return to Camp Nou on Saturday wearing Granada’s colours. In an interview with FC Barcelona, the Catalan midfielder recognises it will be very special and that he misses "the way you train at Barça.”

Samper begins by confessing that “Barça are the team of my life and this game will be very special.” Despite not playing as many minutes as he’d desired, he assures that he feels good on his new adventure in Granada. “The fans and the people that work at the club have treated me really well.”

As for analysing Barça, the player admits that Saturday’s game will be tough. “Barça have strengthened well and have a profile of players which allows them to offer a number of variants. They’re such a strong team.”

Samper also spoke about Paco Jemez, who was sacked as Granada coach after a poor start to the campaign: “It was hasty, but in the end that’s how football is and the results weren’t coming.”

With respect to the new manager, Lucas Alcaraz, he added: “He’s a coach with clear ideas, he wants the lines close together and he values the defensive aspect of the game. It is a style I’ve never played, but if I want to play and be in his plans I have to adapt. The team’s working well and the results will come.”
