Sergi Roberto would love to be reunited with Nolito at Barcelona

Sergi Roberto says Barcelona’s players would love to see the club sign Celta Vigo forward Nolito in the January transfer window.

“We would be delighted with Nolito,” he told RAC1. “I shared a dressing room with him at Barça B and he was one of the stand out performers.”

The youth team graduate has been enjoying plenty of action this season, both at right-back in midfield, but he did admit he has thought about leaving before.

“When you believe you’re working well and you see you’re not getting minutes, you do being to think about the possibility of leaving,” he explained.

On the transformation to right-back, he offered: “I never planned to play in this position, I didn’t see myself there. I’ve tried to do my best [at full-back] and it’s gone well.

“You have more space, attacking is easier, because you can see all the play in front of you. Defensively you have to be more aware, but I feel comfortable there, because it allows me to drive with the ball.

“It’s my best moment since I reached the first team. When you play minutes, you gain confidence and you play better. I am happy and I feel really good, both physically and in terms of my play.”

He’s now in competition for a sport with Dani Alves, although he says there’s no problems between them.

“[Alves] is a great teammate, he always tries to help and we get on really well,” Roberto concluded.
