TAD dismisses Barça's case and confirms that Roberto still has one match left on his four-match ban picked up against Real Madrid last season

The Tribunal Administrativo del Deporte (TAD) have reaffirmed the four-match ban handed to Sergi Roberto following his red card against Real Madrid last season on the 6th May. As a result of this, Roberto won't be able to play in the Spanish Super Cup final against Sevilla.

The resolution, which is dated the 6th July but publicated this Monday on "lusport.com", confirms that the sentence handed down to Roberto still stands. An appeal was lodged to suggest it was an anti-sporting offence rather than an act of aggression but this was dismissed.

"We must conclude that with only the allegations of the player, and no images or proof otherwise, that the referee's verdict cannot be called into question. For that reason, as the appeal can't be proven to be fact, the attributed sanction handed down to the player will remain the same," added TAD.

Sergi Roberto has already completed three matches of his four-match ban. He missed games against Villarreal, Levante and Real Sociedad on the final day of the season. Because of TAD's verdict he will also miss the Spanish Super Cup clash with Sevilla, which takes place on the 12th August, probably in Tangier, although the RFEF is yet to confirm the location.
