Scout report: How new Barcelona man Robert Goncalves plays

Robert Gonçalves was born on 28 September 1996 and is 19 years old. He is one of the most promising youngsters in the Fluminese academy, which he joined when he was just a boy. Since a very young age, the Brazilian has been one considered one of the brightest hopes of Brazilian football, but he was in a car accident a couple of years ago which stunted his progression.

However, Robert has overcome that episode 100 percent and is once again a player with a bright future. This year he has played four games for Fluminese’s first team, all as a substitute, scoring the team’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat against Santos. The new Barcelona striker, Sport can reveal today, has already played in Catalonia, taking part in the Mediterranean International Cup with the Brazil youth team, in which he is a regular. He has even been called up once for the Brazil national team.

He is a typically Brazilian central midfielder, with innate talent and a lot of quality. He plays behind the striker, is very technical and is good going forward. He is a good passer of the ball with a strong shot from outside the area. Robert does need to improve in defensive works, and has work to do in order to increase his intensity levels.
