According to Bild, they're willing to pay up to 12 million euros a year

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and will be free to leave

Leon Goretzka's future could turn 180 degrees in the coming days. According to German outlet Bild, the Schalke 04 midfielder could remain in Gelsenkirchen. The Bundesliga club have offered him a contract worth 10 million euros annually, with the potential to earn 12 million in bonus if certain targets are hit. If it becomes official, it would make him the club's best-paid player.

Schalke are doing all they can to keep hold of one of Europe's most wanted players. Barcelona are one of the clubs tracking him, but Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal are also keen.

The 'Goretzka Soap Opera' could come to an end soon, though, if he signs a contract renewal with Schalke. If he doesn't, he will be free to negotiate a move to any club he chooses in January ahead of a free transfer next summer, when he is out of contract.

According to Bild, 10 million annually plus two million more is the latest offer on the table. Schalke are desperate to hang on to their star man at all costs. But at 22, Goretzka may prefer a new adventure at one of Europe's biggest clubs. We will see if the latest offer is enough to tempt him to stay in Germany.
