"Sarcastic" Gerard Pique apology copies King of Spain Juan Carlos

Gerard Pique has apologised for arguing with and insulting the Guardia Urbana, but there are doubts over his sincerity.

The Barcelona centre-back tweeted to say that although he thought the incident had been exaggerated, he wouldn't do it again. 

"What I said has been exaggerated a lot, but in any case, I am sorry, I made a mistake and it will not happen again," he said.

That would be all well and good, but the wording of the second half is idenitcal to that of Juan Carlos, former king of Spain's apology back in 2012. 

He hurt himself while out elephant hunting in Africa and was forced to apologise for his behaviour.

Pique using the same words as the former king is certainly worth raising an eyebrow at.
