Samper: "To play in the first team will be tough, but I have confidence"
Sergi Samper has spoken proudly following his contract renewal with FC Barcelona.
The midfielder has passed through all the youth categories of the club to finally reach the first team squad.
"I feel immense happiness, to be a first team player is a dream come true", he admitted to Barça TV.
"I joined the FCB Escola (youth school) at the age of six and I am proud that my dream has become reality though I would not call myself an example for the kids.
I have only dedicated myself to working each day to defend the Barça colours and to get this opportunity, and I hope to wear the Barça shirt for many more years", he added.
With respect to the beginning of the new season, in which he will have to work hard to earn a spot in Luis Enrique's plans, Samper stated he is "very anxious" to get started.
Samper analysed his situation in the squad: "I know it will be difficult to play, but I have confidence and, above all, a lot of enthusiasm to gain a spot in the team and show my worth."
