The Dutch coach has also been linked with the role at Barcelona, which will be open in the summer

Everton manager Ronaldo Koeman is the perfect replacement on the Arsenal bench for Arsene Wenger. This is what the driectors at the London club believe, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Britisih newspaer reports that Koeman is the manager viewed by the majority of Arsenal's board as the best option to take over from Wenger if he leaves in the summer when his contract expires.

According to the same information, the problem which Arsenal could encounter is that Koeman is also in the list of potential replacements for Luis Enrique at Barcelona.

However, Koeman's release clause could be a problem for both clubs -- or any interested parties in the Dutch coach, 50, for that matter.

His Everton side have ran into good form in 2017 and have shut the gap between themselves and the top six. On Sunday they play Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, meanwhile, is convinced that Koeman is ideal for Barcelona: "When you see the list of managers that have worked at Barcelona, you realise the club prefer managers who've made history as players at Barçå and Ronald is on that list."
