Roma's Walter Sabatini heads to Barcelona to talk Adriano Correia

Roma are still interested in signing Barcelona defender Adriano. According to reports in Italy, their sporting director, Walter Sabatini, who has recently been in London, has travelled to Barcelona to talk with the Catalan club about a transfer.

Adriano Correia has been linked with the Rome-based club since last summer. According to Sky Italia, the versatile defender is their preferred option to strengthen their back-line, ahead of Borussia Dortmund's Marcelo Schmelzer.

However, Luis Enrique has made it clear that he does not intend on letting any player with a contract leave the club this summer. That includes Adriano and it could complicate matters for Roma.

The 30-year-old has a contract until 2017 and he has not said anything with regards to his future. His agent, Paulo Affonso Neves, though, has suggested he'd be open to a move. "The priority for Adriano is to play regularly," he said recently, adding that "he hasn't had many opportunities at Barcelona to do that lately."
